WRT buffering, rtsp over udp can be choppy, see this (its media-video/mpv specific but you might use mpv as a wrapper to ffmpeg. This is the parameter chart for 'transpose'Ġ = 90CounterCLockwise and Vertical Flip (default) $ ffmpeg -i rtsp:// -vf "transpose=1" -cv: copy output-$(date +%F).rtsp the only issue is perhaps buffering (see bellow), and/or deciding when to terminate the encoding. media-video/ffmpeg can 'transpose' (rotate), and can access rtsp streams (if USE="network"). I know of motion, but if I understand it correctly, it is mainly for storing motion sequences (which is also interesting), but cannot send processed video further in any good frame rate. Since my server is headleass/without X, I'm looking for some command line daemon doing this. Unfortunately, the camera does not allow rotation in software, so I need some software on my server to catch the stream, and rotate it. In order to get a good coverage of the entrance, I have rotaded it 90 degrees. I have this RTSP / Motion JPEG camera mounted outside my door.
